Lead the Way Who: Girls grades 9-12 Take charge! Enhance your interviewing skills, ability to lead meetings and confidently make decisions during a weekend conference in a hotel setting. This is an opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills through interactive workshops and meet other young women interested in leading the way. Girl Scouts Ice Skate Who: Girls grades K-12, plus their families & friends Bring your family and friends and skate with other Girl Scouts. Whether you're a skating pro or a beginner, it's sure to be an evening of fun for all. Take a few minutes to review safety tips in Safety-Wise with girls prior to attending this event. Ice skating patches are included. DISCOVEREE 2008 Who: Adults and Girls in grades 10-12 (Girls in grades 7-9 may volunteer as DISCOVEREE Assistants) DISCOVEREE is the premier training event in our council. A wide variety of workshops are offered, including mandatory council trainings, troop and group program, environment/science and outdoor program, songs and games, arts and crafts, and personal interest workshops. Come and enjoy learning and sharing with girls and adults from all around our council. TOP of PAGE Draw it out! Who: Girls grades 1-3 Join the Schulz Museum for an inside look at the world of comics. Work with several professional cartoonists to learn to draw the popular Peanuts characters and to create cartoon characters of your own. Also complete hands-on art projects to take home for a 2008 Schulz Museum patch. Girl Scout Shop Open Saturday When: Saturday, February 2 Goop, Glop, Color and Fun Who: Girls grades 1-3 Ever have trouble blowing up a balloon? We'll show you how to do it without a single breath. Want to make a multi-color butterfly using only a black marker? How about making your ordinary flashlight shine colors? Join Senior Girl Scouts as we experiment our way through the Science in Action Try-It.
Girl Scout Silver Award Training Who: Girls grades 6-9 The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award an 11-14 year old Girl Scout can earn. It symbolizes accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities. Both girls and advisors are strongly encouraged to attend this training. It is highly recommended that Studio 2B Awards, Recognitions and Destinations be taken prior to this training. TOP of PAGE Draw it out! TOP of PAGE SACK Ukiah Up All Night Who: Girls grades 6-12 Come join us at the gym for the best slumber party ever. We will have access to everything in the gym (except for the workout machinery). There will be quiet rooms for those who wish to sleep (sleep is not mandatory though). Pizza and snacks will be available throughout the night. Breakfast will be provided. Adults will sign up for shift assignments such as pool watcher or snack bar supervisor.

GS Cookie Initial Order Taking Ends When: Sunday, February 3 Cal Skate Skating Badge & Try-It Who: Girls grades 1-6 Earn the Council's Own Skating Badge or Try-It over these four weekly sessions. You can arrive anytime between 2:00 and 4:00 to enjoy free skate time and practice what you have learned. Then from 4-4:30 you will have a group skating lesson with other Girl Scouts, where you will learn the proper way to stop, turn, how to shoot the duck and other fun games. What a great way to spend your winter Wednesdays! From A to V Audiovisual Production IP Who: Girls grades 6-12 Girls will be shown how to use the cameras and technical equipment at a television studio and use that knowledge to produce a short mock TV talk show. Once the basic skills have been practiced girls will progress to more creative camera shots and direction by "lip-synching" to a favorite song or create a music video. Girls are encouraged to bring a favorite track on CD or tape. Dancercize Try-It Workshop Who: Girls grades 1-3 Dance, Dance, Dance - Let's have a dance party! Girls will kick up their heels, tap their toes and spin around. Brownie Girl Scouts will earn the Dancercize Try-It and have lots of fun.

University of Sports Team Challenge Try-it Who: Girls grades 1-3 Earn the Council's Own Team Challenge Try-it that has been created for us by the University of Sports! Their philosophy is that activities need to be fun and help you get fit! Girls will participate in several challenges to develop the ability to work as a team to reach a common goal. Girls will learn the benefits of teamwork and ability to overcome obstacles. Operation: When Nature Calls Who: Girls grades K-6, plus their families & friends Can you find all the magical secrets hidden throughout Golden Gate Park? Join us for a lively afternoon exploring and testing your investigative skills. The hunt focuses on things within the park and is designed to be fun and user friendly, with something for everyone. You're welcome to hunt competitively or casually; the goal is to have a good time! Enjoy trivia, activities, treats, games, and receive a participant treasure just for coming! Girls will also receive a camera to document their hunt. Clueless in the City Who: Girls grades 7-12 You might want to take a train, a boat, a bus but not your car to get around San Francisco to find as many items as you can that will not be given to you on this "clueless scavenger hunt". Meet at the ferry terminal in Larkspur where teams will be formed and then spend the day in the city coming up with as many items as you can that might be on the list (a no cost item list to be exact). Meet back to see how many things you could find that would have been on the list if you had one (there is a secret list). Fee includes transportation costs starting with the ferry and ending with the ferry. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team at a celebration at the end of the day. This can be a troop event or an individual girl but adult supervision must be provided. Now if you are totally confused please feel free to contact Joyce Wieck at wieck@pon.net. Meet women who work in a variety of careers that use math, science, technology, and engineering in their jobs. Participate in hands-on activities from these exciting fields. Observe the Chabot Space and Science Center exhibits and attend either a planetarium show or a show in the megadome theater. Chabot Space and Science Center will be open exclusively to Girl Scouts, their family and friends on this day. Special "Science Café" for Middle School and High School Students Self Defense Badge Workshop Who: Girls grades 4-6 Build your confidence and awareness by learning how to block and kick. Learn skills with Petaluma Academy of Martial Arts to protect yourself while having fun. Earn the Council's Own Self-Defense Badge. Awards, Recognitions and Destinations Who: Girls grades 6-9 Learn about the awards and recognitions that Cadette Girl Scouting offers: community service, interest projects, focus books, program aides, and more. We will also touch on travel opportunities. Girls and advisors are strongly encouraged to take this training prior to Girl Scout Silver Award Training. A Juliette Girl Scout is an individually registered girl who participates in the Girl Scout program but is not affiliated with a troop. In today’s society, when there are so many opportunities for girls to get involved in activities, it is becoming increasingly harder to find time for everything. For girls that do not want to join a troop, or want to start immediately but cannot find a troop available at times that work for her, participating individually is a wonderful solution. Girls registered as a Juliette are afforded the same opportunities as girls in troops. As Juliette Girl Scouts they are able to pick and choose the ways they want to participate. Cheerleading Try-it Sleepover Who: Girls grades 1-3 We have created a Council's Own Brownie Cheerleading Try-it! Come learn the basics of cheerleading and then practice a fun cheer routine with the Airborne Cheer group! They are the largest and most successful competitive all-star program in Sonoma County! They want to show you how fun and safe it is. Girls will learn simple tumbling too! SCORE! Computer Smarts Try-It Day Who: Girls grades 1-3 SCORE! is a great place for kids to learn AND have fun. Come to a SCORE! center and your troop will have a great afternoon earning the Computer Smarts Try-It while learning all about computers. We promise a fun time with pizza and prizes too! SCORE! CyberGirl Badge Day Who: Girls grades 3-6 SCORE! is a great place for kids to learn AND have fun. Girl Scout Shop Open Late When: Tuesday, February 19 Lawrence Hall of Science Slumber Party Who: Girls grades 3-6 Come to the best slumber party around: at the Lawrence Hall of Science! This sleepover is just for Junior Girl Scouts and friends. Experience a full evening program with adventures that will include: an entertaining assembly, interactive workshops, and free time to explore the exhibits. Sleep in the halls under our special featured exhibits. Evening snacks will be provided, and in the morning enjoy a continental breakfast. Details Announced: Who: Girls grades 6-12 This 5th annual event is intended to encourage young women in the Santa Rosa area to be excited about engineering. Last year, more than 80 girls were introduced to the fun and challenges of engineering while building their own foil boats. This year we have yet another fun engineering challenge planned for our participants. Coaches and judges will be present to help guide everyone through the day. In addition, we will have speaker panels again for brief presentations and to answer any questions our participants might have. Prizes will be award to the top teams. The event is completely free, including lunch and snacks. The event is open to girls and boys in grades 6-12. Girl Scouts Roller Skate</P> Who: Girls grades K-12, plus their families & friends Fun for the whole family or a troop! From 5:00 - 7:00PM is exclusively Girl Scout skating, but stay until 9:30PM if you like. Fee includes admission and quad skates or using your own skates.
