Sharing Is Caring
Girl Scout Cookie Sale Service Project

Who: Girls grades K-12
When: Donate Girl Scout Cookies to special folks.
Where: Drop off at location of your choice or to your service unit Sharing is Caring coordinator (if there is one in your SU).
Please note: NO REGISTRATION NECESSARY.

The Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program is a wonderful way for Girl Scouts to financially support their activities and their Council. Through the Sharing Is Caring project, girls can also use the Cookie Sale Program to help support members of their community. You or your troop can bring cookies to low-income elderly, send them to service men and women or donate them to our outreach troops. Bring cookies for outreach troops to SCSC.
What a great way to share our good fortune! Girls who participate in the Caring Is Sharing Project may purchase the Caring Is Sharing project patch at the Council Shop. If they have participated more than one year, they may also purchase year bars.

Expanding Your Horizons is a conference for 7th and 8th grade girls to consider careers in non-traditional fields. Designed to introduce girls to the world of math, engineering, and science, the conference features hands-on workshops conducted by women who have careers in these fields. It also has sessions designed for parents and educators.

Have you ever wished you could design your own bedroom? Get rid of the ballerina's, the tiny flowers or the stark white walls? Do your own thing without using posters as your theme? Then come with us into a virtual world of design. We'll meet first with an interior designer who will help us to get started with an idea and figure out what our budget would be. Next we'll select the color scheme and textures by choosing paint and then fabrics at Calico Corners in Greenbrae. Finally, we'll travel to Ikea to find furniture and accessories to bring our design ideas together. You'll go home with a full design board and great ideas for your own bedroom, while earning the all new, council's own Rock Your Room IP.

Stitch It Together Try-It Workshop

It's sew simple to make your own things. A stitch in time really does save nine, so come to our workshop and learn some basic sewing skills and earn the Stitch It Together Try-It. Learning to sew can be sew simple. Come to our workshop and learn some basic sewing stitches, how to use a sewing machine, and make something special to take home. You'll have "sew" much fun while you learn to sew and earn the "Sew Simple" badge.

Earn the Council's Own Team Challenge Badge that has been created for us by the University of Sports! Their philosophy is that activities need to be fun while helping you get fit! Girls will participate in several challenges to develop the ability to work as a team to reach a common goal. Girls will learn the benefits of teamwork and ability to overcome obstacles. Learn about John Wooden's Pyramid of Success and skills you can take with you to make your life more successful!

We have created a Council's Own Junior Cheerleading Badge! Come learn the basics of cheerleading and then practice a fun cheer routine with the Airborne Cheer group! They are the largest and most successful competitive all-star program in Sonoma County! They want to show you how fun and safe it is. Girls will learn simple tumbling and maybe some Hip Hop, too!

When you've finished your pre-requisites, return for the mandatory second part of the Go For The Gold training. This must be taken within one year of your project start date. You will learn about deadlines, paperwork, and other crucial points. Gold Award Proposals will not be accepted without this training.

Wildlife Badge Overnight at the Oakland Zoo

Who: Girls grades 3-6
When: Saturday - Sunday, March 15 - 16

Cost: $55 per participant. One adult chaperone is required for every eight children.

Come to the zoo and become a true wildlife biologist. Learn about researching in the field, and do a bit of research yourself! Meet one of our education animal ambassadors up close and learn about the tools it has to be successful in the wild. Explore the Zoo at night, enjoy a late night snack, play a game, and snuggle down in the comfort of our Education Center. Enjoy a tasty continental breakfast before heading out into the zoo for a private tour to continue our field research. You'll complete all of the requirements necessary to earn your Wildlife Badge while having the time of your life on this exciting overnight.

How long has it been since you had a strike? Take the troop or the family for a couple of fun hours bowling. All ages are welcome. Everyone bowling will need to pay. Fee includes shoe rental (or wear your own tennis shoes), two games of bowling, a patch and a lot of fun.
