Girl Scouts policy states that every troop must have at least one adult leader who has completed Basic Leader Training within 4 months of becoming a leader.
There are 3 parts of BLT:
1) Getting Started (formerly known as Orientation)
2) New Leaders Basic (formerly known as Core)
3) Age Level Training (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Studio 2B)
Orientation must be completed first. When all 3 parts are completed you have met the requirements.
Getting Started (formerly known as Orientation)
Appropriate for: Troop/group leaders/advisors
This is Step One of BLT for a Girl Scout troop/group leader/advisor. You will learn the expectations of the position and how to start a troop/group. You will also learn how to follow Girl Scout safety guidelines and develop Girl Scout program activities. Orientation is offered through area service units and the Membership Department. Contact Linda Powers at 524-9217 for specific information.
