Girl Scouts’ philosophy includes progression in activities. Learning to live successfully in the out-of-doors helps girls gain self-confidence, develop skills and appreciate the world around them. Girls need to learn and practice basic skills before moving on to more difficult activities. Some of the following trainings are required before participating in certain types of outdoor activities. It is recommended that Backyard Basics be taken prior to TCC and that there is sufficient time between the training and outdoor experience to allow for teaching the skills to the girls and for them to practice.
