This training is required for leaders who plan to take their girls on local overnights that are one to three nights long. This class will cover topics such as budgeting, transportation, insurance and legal requirements, behavior contracts and more. This is not for overnights in the out-of-doors (see Backyard Basics or TCC).

* Troops taking day trips out of council jurisdiction or engaged in high-risk activities need to complete the Troop Trip/Activity Application.

Appropriate for: Leaders, assistant leaders and advisors who wish to travel four or more nights and/or travel out of the United States

Learn from leaders who have gone before you and have added a new dimension to their troop’s program. Learn about Council Financial Assistance available to traveling troops, requirements to leave the country and hints on how to travel easily. If you are planning to travel to a World Center your mentor will cover the necessary information and paperwork. This training should be taken 2 years before taking a trip out of the country or when financial assistance is going to be requested from the Council.

Girl Scout Troop Field Trips

Forms that May Be Needed:

  • Parent Permission form
  • Health History form
  • Driver Information form
  • Vehicle Assignment Form
  • Troop Trip Application

These forms are available on the Forms page at www.konoctigirlscouts.org or at your local service center. For more extensive trips, call for more information.

Emergency Contact

When you are going on a field trip, you need to have one person at home who has all of the information about the trip as well a copy of a Vehicle Assignment form. Then, in case of an emergency, they can be the communication link between parents and the girls. This person’s phone number should be on the Parent Permission form.

Plan, Plan, Plan

Planning ahead is essential for Girl Scout field trips. Once a trip is planned, forms need to be given to the Girls, completed, and brought back to the leader. This can take weeks depending on your meeting schedule. Also, with busy schedules, the sooner you know the date of a field trip, the better it is to let families know.
