Becoming a Volunteer Council Trainer

What are the benefits of being a council trainer?

  • You can share your knowledge and focus on specific topics.
  • You can choose the days, times and locations you would like to facilitate courses.

  • You can develop skills that can promote your personal and professional goals.
  • Girl Scouts provides training in collaboration with Northern California and Nevada Training Consortium twice a year, September and March as well as within our own council boundaries.

Why are council trainers needed?

Girl Scouts of Northern California, Konocti Area has more than 4,700 girl members and 2,600 adult volunteers. To assure safe, high-quality, relevant programming for girls, our council policies state that training is required for all adult volunteers. To accomplish this, volunteer trainers play a vital role in preparing volunteers for their positions.

What is a council trainer?

  • A council trainer is an adult that has completed training to prepare her/him to facilitate courses for adult volunteers and/or older girls ages 11-17.
  • A council trainer facilitates courses following a standard design. This provides consistent information to our volunteers.
  • A council trainer not only has the option of facilitating leadership, safety, outdoor and enrichment courses, they also can design on-line curriculum development!
